Life Foundation is a registered non-profit humanitarian organization established in the year 2010 with a vision to build a just, inclusive, compassionate, and child-friendly society where every individual can live with dignity, equality, security, protection, and opportunity.

Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, Life Foundation was founded by Shri Bijoy Mondal along with a group of committed social workers and like-minded individuals who believed in creating meaningful social change through collective action and community participation. Since its inception, the organization has consistently worked towards addressing critical social issues affecting women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, economically weaker families, rural communities, and socially excluded populations.

Life Foundation believes that sustainable development is only possible when communities are empowered with education, awareness, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, social protection, child safety, rehabilitation services, and equal access to resources.

Guided by this philosophy, the organization implements various developmental and humanitarian initiatives focusing on women empowerment, child welfare, education, healthcare, skill development, livelihood generation, environmental sustainability, mental health awareness, disaster relief, disability inclusion, human rights advocacy, child protection, rehabilitation, adoption services, and community development.

Over the years, Life Foundation has emerged as a people-centered grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of underserved communities through inclusive, participatory, sustainable, and child-centered approaches.

The organization works closely with local communities, government agencies, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, volunteers, civil society organizations, child protection authorities, and development partners to create impactful interventions that bring long-term positive change.

Life Foundation is also actively involved in child care, protection, rehabilitation, and adoption services through its:

  • Child Care Institution (CCI)
  • Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA)

which are recognized under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and function in coordination with Mission Vatsalya, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and other child welfare stakeholders.

Our Journey

A Journey of Service, Hope, Child Protection & Community Empowerment

The journey of Life Foundation began in 2010 with a simple yet powerful vision to serve humanity with compassion and contribute towards building a more inclusive and equitable society. What started as a small initiative driven by dedication and social responsibility gradually evolved into a committed humanitarian organization working for the welfare and empowerment of vulnerable communities.

Founded by Shri Bijoy Mondal and supported by socially conscious individuals, Life Foundation initially focused on addressing the immediate needs of disadvantaged families, women, and children through awareness programs, community support activities, and humanitarian outreach efforts. As the organization engaged closely with local communities, it became increasingly aware of the deeper challenges related to poverty, illiteracy, healthcare access, unemployment, social inequality, gender discrimination, child vulnerability, abandonment, child protection concerns, and lack of opportunities.

Driven by the realities faced by marginalized communities, Life Foundation expanded its scope of work and adopted a more comprehensive and sustainable development approach. Over the years, the organization diversified its initiatives into areas such as education support, healthcare awareness, women empowerment, livelihood development, skill training, environmental conservation, youth development, disability inclusion, mental health awareness, rural development, child protection, rehabilitation services, adoption support, and relief & rehabilitation support during emergencies and natural calamities.

A major milestone in the organization’s journey was the establishment of the Child Care Institution (CCI) in 2022 and the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) in 2024. These initiatives strengthened the organization’s commitment towards child welfare, rehabilitation, care, legal protection, and family-based support systems for orphaned, abandoned, surrendered, and vulnerable children.

Throughout its journey, Life Foundation has continuously emphasized community participation, transparency, accountability, child-centered care, and grassroots engagement. The organization has organized awareness drives, educational activities, health camps, social welfare programs, counselling initiatives, training workshops, rehabilitation support, relief distribution campaigns, and developmental interventions aimed at improving the lives of underserved populations.

Today, Life Foundation stands as a growing humanitarian and development organization committed to creating sustainable social impact and empowering communities with dignity, knowledge, opportunities, protection, and hope. While the journey has witnessed many challenges, it has also been filled with stories of resilience, transformation, rehabilitation, collaboration, and positive change.

Child Care Institution (CCI)

The Child Care Institution (CCI) operated by Life Foundation is a 25-bedded residential Children Home for boys in need of care and protection established under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The institution provides:

  • Counseling, Emotional support, Rehabilitation,
  • Vocational guidance, And Holistic child development services

within a safe, caring, and child-friendly environment.

Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA)

The Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) operated by Life Foundation is a government-recognized child care and adoption facility established for the care, protection, rehabilitation, and legal adoption of orphaned, abandoned, and surrendered children in accordance with CARA guidelines and JJ Act provisions.

The agency works towards ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, loving, secure, and nurturing family environment through ethical and transparent adoption procedures and child rehabilitation services.

Dear Friends, Supporters, Partners, and Well-Wishers,

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to Life Foundation - an organization founded with a vision to serve humanity and contribute towards building a more compassionate, inclusive, empowered, and child-friendly society.

Life Foundation was established in the year 2010 with a simple yet meaningful belief that every human being , especially every vulnerable child deserves dignity, opportunity, protection, care, and hope irrespective of their social, economic, or personal circumstances. Over the years, our journey has been driven by compassion, collective effort, and an unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, child welfare, and community development.

The inspiration behind the establishment of Life Foundation originated from my experience while working at Prodigals Home, an NGO based in Dimapur. During my tenure there, I had the opportunity to witness and engage with a UNICEF-supported project titled “Children Infected and Affected by HIV/AIDS.” The realities faced by vulnerable and disadvantaged children deeply touched my heart and inspired me to dedicate my life towards the welfare, protection, rehabilitation, and empowerment of children and marginalized communities in our own society.

Motivated by this vision and compassion for disadvantaged children, Life Foundation was founded with the aim of serving needy and vulnerable children while also addressing broader social challenges affecting women, youth, families, and underserved communities.

As we engaged with communities over the years, we witnessed the hardships faced by women, children, youth, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and marginalized families who continue to struggle against poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, social inequality, child vulnerability, inadequate healthcare, and lack of opportunities. These realities strengthened our determination to work tirelessly for sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered development.

At Life Foundation, we believe that true development is not merely about economic growth but about empowering people, protecting dignity, safeguarding children, promoting equality, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for every individual to lead a better and more meaningful life.
